When it Works

One of my customers launched a new website this month. Alicia McCalla’s site didn’t just go live, it exploded onto the net. She’s already seen more than 5 times the normal traffic I see for a new website, and the site is only 2 weeks old.

Why? What’s the secret of her success?

Part of it is simple hard work. She’s done the legwork. She’s promoted her blog, and she’s written her entries. Alicia is smart. She thinks before she types.

Part of it is passion. You can’t read her blog without realizing how dear this topic is.

Then there’s a dash of controversy. She tackles hard subjects in a direct and open manner that comes through. She invites discussion and she engages with her readers.

I met Alicia in Margie Lawson’s Immersion Master Class. We were partnered up. The first time we saw each other’s writing, we shared a laugh — because we both write similar material with a completely different take. Alicia is one of the people I delight in talking about writing with, because she’s beyond smart. She’s talented, creative and uses her head. There’s a bright career ahead of this woman and I’m delighted to help out.

If you’re a writer, check out her site. Think about the multicultural issues she raises. If you’re wondering how to start a blog, look hers over. She’s done a fantastic job.

See? That’s what I’m always talking about. That’s how it is done.
